New Opportunities

When appropriately used in conjuction with a public message board, e-mail can now be used as an effective communication tool for members of a governmental body. Permitted electronic discussions provide members with a way to openly communicate and discuss issues with each other outside of the formal public meeting without violation the open meeting act. This allows for exploration of different perspectives as well as full understanding and identification of options.
The discussions can touch on any topic and go on as long as needed. Formal meeting time is reserved for deliberations and decisions. Due to the use of the public message board, the discussions are held within the full view of the public providing full transparency and maintaining the principles of open government.
TX Open Meetings .Com provides the infrastructure needed for enabling electronic discussions in a manner prescribed by the Texas Open Meetings Act.
